Recently I came across old photos of my visit to the Fox Glacier in New Zealand and I was remembering the spectacular colour and depth of the ice. They aren’t white. There’s a core of blue and a shimmer and sparkle. I imagine that icebergs are like glaciers when you see them close up. Maybe one day I’ll sail past an iceberg just to see the blue ice. Or I can just wear my glacier necklace and look at photos of icebergs, that’s much warmer.
Today was an exercise in playing with shapes. I wanted organic, not round marbles, nor flat. Something in between that was free form and unusual. Thanks to my trusty oyster shucker, I made the perfect shape for the glacier beads.
