marimekko
Rarely have I emerged from my creative lair lately. It’s been a making binge of epic scale and so much fun. This exhibit required that I put down my tools and take a trip to the Textile Museum because I was in need of seeing something big and giant in proportion and Marimekko fit the bill.
Marimekko is a Finnish company known for their iconic large simple flowers and bold stripes. Their distinctive patterns and clothing became known in North America in the 1960’s, especially when Jacqueline Kennedy started wearing them.
Giant patterns. Flowers. Stripes. Colour. Great photos from the 60s. A well-curated exhibit and fun time.
