HOME - what's new issue 1 2003- Welcome!

Guess what? This site is two years old with this issue! If I've amused you, inspired you, informed you, made you smile, or made you want to get out there then I've done well. The site came into being when I wanted to share our adventures in Cuba, it's evolving into more. Stay tuned to see what happens next.

Rusty writes "I'm jealous of your lifestyle". Yeah, you and thousands of others. Not that I'm trying to rub it in, the message is, if 2 flakes like us can do this, so can you. Money is nice (so I'm told), but we don't have a lot of it. So we chose to cruise with what we've got. But that's us. Many of you have written asking if you should sell everything and go. That's a tough decision and not one to be answered quickly. Tune in next issue for an indepth answer.

Congratulations to Ken on Illetas! Ken just bought his first boat! Wow, good for you Ken, your enthusiasm spilleth over. That's awesome! The most beautiful sight I have ever seen was the city marina at Fort Myers Florida because I was walking down the dock to my very own boat. She was smaller than any other boat there but she was all mine. For a day we sat there in a half-empty marina under a busy causeway, grinning like the village idiots, on our own boat. Nothing can beat that feeling.

For Lisa who's scared but so excited and says she has no clue what she's doing but is going for it anyway. You go Sailorgirl! There's nothing wrong with a little fear, it keeps you smart. Don't worry about the mistakes you'll make, we all do. The most important thing is to give it a shot. We'll meet somewhere for sundowners.

John on Wind Dancer based in Saskatoon, wants to hear about a day at sea from Sailorgirl. If I was in Saskatoon in the winter I'd want to hear about a day sailing in turquoise water. Next issue, I promise.

Also upcoming, Sailorgirl and the Pirate Guy build a dinghy!!! Well, the Pirate Guy builds a dinghy and Sailorgirl is his lovely assistant. We have the plans for the Chameleon nesting dinghy, a 10'4'' wooden/fiberglass two part dinghy. I can't wait to row around in a boat that I/we built! So I thought I'd document the whole process and share the experience. Join Sailorgirl in an exploration of construction and fiberglass. Cool.

And a special Sailorgirl thanks to Paul of Onramp for most generously hosting Sailorgirl for the past 2 years. I owe you lunch Paul. Again.

Life is short, I'm going sailing. See you on the blue waters...
