oh boy a new harbour to explore! we arrive in marathon in the florida keys, we haven’t been here in 5 years, things have changed. it’s been a good day and a fabulous sail down, 45 miles of perfect sailing. non-sailors take note, 45 miles is a long way in a sailboat, we average 6 knots (1 knot = 1.1 miles = 1.75km) an hour. so we put the oars in the dinghy and head to shore. yes people, that is how it’s done. we anchor in the harbour and use a dinghy to get ashore. the dinghy is the boaters version of the family car. marathon is a big harbour, there’s easily 300 boats here. here’s a picture of the dinghy dock.
