is this not the cutest tea cosy you have ever seen? i am totally in love with it. as i might have mentioned i am a tea drinker. lately my tea consumption is way over the top due to the opening of some great tea shops in town. i’ve always found making a pot to be a waste because by the time you get to the second cup the tea isn’t hot enough and it must be really hot. so when i was wandering around the beaches arts show last weekend (2 thumbs up!) and saw this fabulous tea cosy i was so excited! even better, i got it on trade! trades rock. much as i want to support my fellow artists i can’t buy every cool thing i see, there’s only so much space in my wee house. and besides, the point of going to a show is to come home with money to pay the bills. this is where trades come in. trades are usually done before the show opens, that’s when we walk around, check out all the work and dangle what we have to trade. not everyone is open to trade but it never hurts to ask. i saw these and knew immediately i must have one. there’s a moment of sizing up before you ask about trading. will she be open to a trade? if not how much do you have to have the item? i met jennifer and asked, fingers crossed. she already knew my work and her mom owns several of my pieces! a light went off in jennifer’s mind – a christmas gift done! so i spent a few minutes agonizing over the flower cosy or the butterfly. i have a thing for butterflies right now. it was a tough choice but the flower won out. you should have seen the butterfly, it was so darn cute. then i lucked out again, jennifer saw a pendant for her mom and one for herself. so it was a double trade. and i got a second tea cosy which i gifted my sister with. she went with the paisley. she also had a felted bag i’ve got my eye on. i’ll be seeing her at the one of a kind show in december, guess i’ll get my new bag then…
