With my upcoming birthday and with several requests, I’ve been thinking of birthstones. I admit, I’ve never really paid much attention to this. However they seem to be throwing themselves at me recently and when the universe throws a stone at you it is important to listen. I’m wondering, maybe I should try to make glass versions of each birthstone…
Help me out here people, I need your opinions. What is your birthstone and do you wear jewelry with this stone?
As an incentive to answering my question, this month I am giving away a pair of my fire opal earrings, because opals are the October birthstone.

My birthstone is Sapphire and I do not wear any Sapphire jewelry.
My birthstone is amethyst – I like purple but for some reason, I seldom where purple jewelry … I must change this!
My birthstone is both Opals and tourmaline for October. I wear both in rings I’ve bought. I bought an amazing opal ring in an antique shop in Carmel on my way to San Francisco to do a story. I figure I was about to get paid for the story I was going to do so I might as well buy the ring with the money I was going to get from the story. Always thinking ahead. I also have a tourmaline ring in a pink colour. Interesting gemstone which often displays several different colours in the same stone. I got that one in a flea market in Paris. Love it!
Happy Birthday to you!
My birthstone is the emerald for the month of May. I have some beautiful earrings that my husband gave me for my birthday one year.
Hey there!
My birthstone is the emerald for the month of May, of course. I have a gorgeous emerald ring surrounded by diamond chips.
Love those Fire Opal Earrings. Stunning! I’d wear those always!
My Birthstone is Garnet and while I have a few lovely pieces with garnets I rarely wear them because ‘red’ is not a colour I wear.
I gravitate to your silver earrings with the single glass bead and have them in all four colours, turquoise, lime, purple and deep pink!
Hi Sailorgirl,
I abosolutely love your jewellery and have bought some of your beautiful pieces for myself and friends.
My birthstone is aquamarine but I don’t usually wear it since it’s not colourful enough for me! I love amethyst, turquoise, amber and other more colourful stones. I would love to win this set of gorgeous fire opal earrings for our annual United Way raffle table fundraiser (University of Guelph) on November 26.

My birthstone is the beautiful peridot, and yes, I would love glass birthstones! Earrings, necklace, bracelets….all of it!!
Another brilliant idea!
My birthday is in September. I wear a lot of lapis. Love, love, love it! My mother gives me blue sapphire jewelry but mostly Princess Diana type settings which I don’t wear. That’s not to say I wouldn’t wear blue sapphire if it was set in a manner more to my taste.
I love FALL my favourite season !!! Colours of the Earth , this wonderful Earth !!! Warmth calming colours !! Yes opals blues Browns . Nothing like a beautiful walk among fall colourful leaves !!!! Oh yeah !!!
Happy Birthday Catherine!
My birthday stone is ruby. I have a beautiful pendant that floats in gold on each side. Take care.
Hi there & Happy Birthday!
My birthstone is Aquamarine for March, and I too seldom wear it as it looks a little washed out. I do have a silver meditation ring with a small aquamarine stone and a couple of other stones with it – it’s the first time I found something with aquamarine that spoke to me!
Amythyst is my birthstone and I love purple however I don’t have much of the stone myself excepting a lovely ring my parents had made for me many many moons ago……
Love these earrings!!
Fiona
Ruby is my birthstone. I don’t have any jewelry pieces with rubies. I love my diamonds and pearls.
Hi Catherine, I am a December baby so birthstones are blue zircon and turquoise. I love blue but I don’t wear my birthstones often… I do have my eye on your new blue bead creations though! My daughter is an October baby and these fire opal earrings are stunning.
Love, love, love your jewellery! I turned the big 5/0 in August and was excited to get a peridot necklace and earrings! A bright, fresh shade of green as I start my new adventure in this decade! I love wearing my birthstone and still have the teeny tiny one I got on my first birthday / the little ring does not fit, but I treasure it
Happy Birthday gorgeous
My birthday (when I celebrate them) is August so I think Peridot is my birth stone. I love all stones and yes I wear birthstones. You can’t have to many stones but you can have to many birthdays haha. See you in January. God Bless.
I too am an October baby, so the opal is my birthstone too! Yes, I love opals and I wear an opal ring left to me by an Aunt of mine who was also born in October. I lovely continuation thing :)….
Love hearing about your adventures and love seeing your new jewellery ideas! The fire opal earrings are gorgeous! My birthday is 10 days before Christmas, so Blue Topaz/Turquoise/Blue Zircon are my birthstones. I love blue – my favourite colour, but don’t have too many pieces with those stones. I would wear that blue though, if I could find that colour in a creative setting I really liked.
My birthstone is amethyst for February. I love this gemstone, I have a pair of earrings and a pendant with this stone in it. I love how the purple stands out when you wear it with white.
I love the idea of making jewelry using birthstone because there are some very nice gemstones that would be incorporated into your line of jewelry.
My birthstone is Amethyst, which I wear often. I love purple — and blue! I am a true Aquarian!
My birth month is October also . I have and wear tourmaline in a mothers ring . Other than that I don’t wear my birthstone .
My birthstone is aquamarine, and blue is my favourite colour, and yes I have aquamarine jewellery but I rarely wear any of it, I prefer more colourful pieces, like yours…always wear your earrings and often wear bracelets and pendants you’ve made, ergo I would wear aquamarine sailorgirl jewellery and other months too if the colours appealed to me.
Hi Catherine, Happy Happy Birthday!
I love your jewelry and wear it often. Also love hearing about all your adventures and the inspiration you draw from them to create your beautiful pieces.
My birthstone is Ruby. I love it and wear rubies (and diamonds) every day in my engagement ring. I also have some lovely ruby earrings that I often wear. I have many other gemstones in earrings and rings (amethyst, Amber, lapis lazuri, Quartz, opal, turquoise, pearls, onyx, peridot, jade, coral, to mention a few). I would love to have some glass pendants / necklaces that match my birthstone or any if the other birthstones.
Thanks for sharing your fabulous creativity with us.
Cheers, Nancy
My birthstone is sapphire. I do have a few sapphire [coloured] pieces including the Heart of the Ocean type necklace popularized by the film Titanic. I even have a Lady Di, Kate Middleton lookie likie ring, but just for looking at, not to wear as it is a bit much.
I always think that June is so classic with the pearls and roses. Nice combo.
Happy Birthday!!
Diamonds… BORING…. when all those other amazing gem colors are out there, I am boring. I have diamonds, I don’t wear them.
My birthstone is Aquamarine for March, I don’t have any jewelry with that stone but would love some. Your Jewelry is beautiful! Happy birthday!
My birthstone is ruby and I wear lots of this stone… in rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, etc. I might have a problem… LOL!!
My birthstone is emerald and yes definitely I would wear jewelry with it!
My birthstone is “Aquamarine”… which is kind of a watered-down blue, if you ask me. So no, I don’t wear a lot of it. But I do love blue and wear a lot of blue jewelry often. To be fair, my turquoise swirl colour dot IS one of my favourites… so perhaps I do wear my birthstone colour more often than I readily admit…! (smirk) I always felt gipped (jipped?) because February is Amethyst (purple!!!) and April is diamonds… Oh well. C’est la vie!
My birthday is in April, so diamonds are a girls best fried. Yes I do wear my birthstone, rings of course but love my earrings, I think they are classic and am loving silver now, so they even go with that too. I love the complexity of colours in your work. Thank u.
My birthstone is emerald. I do not own any jewelry with emeralds- both of my kids have October birthdays and I love opals but do not own any.
