Random editorial babbling .... and why some of this stuff is here... and stuff I couldn't think of where else to put.

Another Sailorgirl Adventure!
(of the culinary kind)

Wrap-A-Rama....

Spinnakers or Chutes

Sheets, guys, downhauls, huh? An explanation of the "chute".

Oh, and a photo explaining why spinnakers in 30 knots of wind may not be the best idea...

Signal Flags

You don't have SSB, your VHF is on the fritz, and you're trying to ask your neighbours over for sundowners, what do you do? Easy. Use your code flags....

In the news....

The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed, if not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Sea Breeze would be lost...

A 35 kilometre day sail takes four months.

Calling all Pirates, want to be in a movie?

Ar matey, are ya missin' some teeth, have serial killer looks or maybe long hair and a parrot?

Do you want to play pirate and be in a movie? There's a casting call from Disney....

Trivia: the Jolly Roger or Jolie Rouge

"We are not pirates, but men who want to live for the Freedom that God and Nature gave us, without surrendering to anybody".

So you're out in the middle of the ocean, floating around and out of nowhere another boat appears coming directly at you. What do you do? Well, that depends on who has the right of way. Who's on starboard tack, where's the wind coming from, who's under power or sail, blah blah blah.

You can keep and memorize the U.S. Coast Guard's publication, Navigation Rules, International-Island (COMDTINST M16672.2A), or you can read the quick version here.

Just call me Iron Charity Flint....

If you're going to be in a pirate movie, you'll be needing a good pirate name. Here's a website where you can find your secret pirate name.
